Marrs Billboard

  • A HUGE congratulations to the students, staff, and parents at Marrs for once again achieving 4 Star School status with the Indiana Department of Education for the 2012-2013 school year. Marrs has achieved this status for 20 years and we couldn't do it without all of us working together to give our students the best education anywhere!
  • Please remind your children to avoid bringing electronic games such as Nintendo DS and iPods, tradable items such as Pokémon cards, and other toys to school.  We are having some incidents of damage, loss, and ill feelings over poor trades due to this.  To remain in compliance with the MSDMV school rules, please do not bring these types of items to school.  We appreciate any help you can give us on this!
  • The students will be raising money for future projects and classroom activities by conducting our Spring Walk-a-thon. Students are being asked to obtain pledges/donations. Remember:  100% of the money collected stays at our school!

Please help us by inviting your family and friends to help support Marrs PTO.

The Walk-A-Thon is being held at the Marrs Soccer field at 1:30 PM on April 16th.
  • ISTEP Multiple Choice testing starts Wednesday, April 30th and ends Wednesday, May 7th.

  • The 3rd grading period HONOR ROLL is now available.  Great job, Honor Students!
  • Due to recent snow days, school will be in session on April 18, and April 21, 2014. The MSD of Mt. Vernon was granted a special waiver for January 6 & 7, 2014, so those days will not need to be made up.  School days will be lengthened by 20 minutes each day, starting March 31st.  Please see information below.
  • April is My Coke Rewards Month!

Helping Marrs is as easy! This flyer and the PTO BLOG provide more detailed information on many of the programs that generate free money or items for Marrs.
  • The next PTO meeting is April 14th @ 6 pm in the library.  Catch up on all the PTO's news in the April Newsletter.

School Days Get Longer

The Mt. Vernon School Board approved a resolution to lengthen the student day by 20 minutes. Starting Monday, March 31st, all schools will begin their day at 8:00 a.m. Bus routes in the morning will run 5 minutes earlier than normal.  The end of the school day will be lengthened by 10 minutes - Marrs will be dismissed at 2:55 p.m. This change will continue throughout the rest of this school year. By making this minor adjustment, the last day of school for all students will be Thursday, May 22nd.

Marrs Parking and Student Pickup

Parents, we need your help! We are having some parking and pick up issues at school which are posing a danger to students and buses. Please look over the this map and help us by following it. Parents are more than welcome to drop students off in the bus area prior to buses arriving. But, once buses start arriving, please use the circle lot for all drop offs and parking. After school, please stay in the circle lot or park along the gravel drive as an alternative. We fully understand parking is an issue and are taking steps to further help with this in the future. Thank you for your cooperation!
